The leader of the general classification is going to wear Castelli’s blue jersey. The red jersey goes to the points classification, the white jersey goes to the best young rider. The jersey with the UAE flag is dedicated to the intermediate sprint classification.

To get the blue jersey, the riders will face 5 stages in the Dubai area of the United Arab Emirates. Four stages are dedicated to the sprinters, yet one stage is taking the peloton up to Hatta Dam in the Hajar Mountains. This particular stage is a comeback: last year, the Hatta Dam stage was canceled due to strong winds. This year the sprinters are called again to a good result in the Hajar Mountains to target the blue jersey.

The race will host 9 UCI WorldTour Teams, 5 Professional Teams, 1 Continental Team and the UAE National Team.

The last edition of the Tour was the fastest and longest ever: the average speed reached 45.59km/h, and Marcel Kittel got his second consecutive victory after the success in 2016. Before him, Taylor Phinney and Mark Cavendish won the race in the first two editions. Last year the race also got a global stage with a broadcast to 182 countries in the world.

The winner of the Dubai Tour will receive the Circle of Stars, made by Pininfarina. The circle symbolizes the wheel of a racing bike, and it is also a reference to the tube over the shoulder that riders used to wear in the past.
